The interior drywall is double thickness for acoustic reasons. This hardens the surface and reduces diaphragm effects and undesirable resonances. It'll make the organ and singing sound much better! The parish has just hired Elite Pro Systems of St Louis to design and build a sound system for the spoken word.

Cornerstone, St. Michael sculpture, masonry, insulation, drywall
The cornerstone is on site and ready for installation very soon. It's a special cut of the same stone that covers the church, engraved by George Bell of Cairo. Mr. Bell achieved the roman serifs by hand-working each letter... with a most attractive result! Msgr. Joe Lawler has a look (photo below) after picking up the cornerstone this morning and transporting it to Gallatin County.
If you'd like to see the cornerstone laid, we'll try to get word out but won't be able to provide a lot of notice. It'll go in when the masons get to that point, and it isn't practical to delay the project over it. So we won't make quite the photo-op out of it that it might be. Got to keep moving!
Pictured above is the relief sculpture of St. Michael the Archangel on the south transept. May St. Michael, Prince of the Angelic Hosts, Defender of the Church, protect us all.
St. Michael the Archangel,
defend us in battle.
Be our defense against the wickedness and snares of the Devil.
May God rebuke him, we humbly pray,
and do thou,
O Prince of the heavenly hosts,
by the power of God,
thrust into hell Satan,
and all the evil spirits,
who prowl about the world
seeking the ruin of souls. Amen.
The masons are moving quickly up the north transept. Only the tower will remain.
Inside, insulation and drywall are appearing. The insulation scheme is two inches of sprayed foam behind fiberglass batting.

Altar and Font progress
The Lamb of God from Revelation 5... almost finished |
A small trickle of water will flow from the pedestal to the Baptismal pool below. |
A peak of the Carrara mountain quarries... mountains made of marble! |
We don't have budget for it right now, but Massimo's mosaic studio is stunning. |
A sketch including St. Kateri for a mosaic in another church! I really liked this depiction. |
